CDI System

A CDI ignition system creates a spark when discharging a capacitor, which was loaded with a high voltage (200-450 Volt) from the ignition coil (negative pulse).

CDI ignition coils have a low impedance and inductance and can reach a high RPM. This type of ignition makes high power and short sparks. These coils have 1 Faston/AMP connection.

TCI System

A TCI ignition system charges the coil with a current. The spark is generated when the current is suddenly cut off.

TCI ignition coils have a high impedance and can reach lower RPM. Spark may last longer. These coils have 2 Faston/AMP connections.
